Dealing with emotional distress can be a lonely experience. Friends and family want to help, but they don’t always understand. And anyway, we don’t want to be a burden to them. Instead, we tell ourselves that the issues are ours alone and we should be able to deal with them ourselves.
But you don’t have to struggle through it all on your own.
How can I help?
Some people think counselling is like taking your car to a mechanic when something goes wrong with it. If only life were so simple!
As a person-centred counsellor I can’t diagnose you, or judge you. I don’t promise a magical cure. This is because you know you better than anyone else. You carry within you your experiences, your spoken and unspoken thoughts, feelings, fears and desires.
What I can do is create with you a secure, safe space where you can make your way towards healing, and I accompany you on this journey offering the core nurturing conditions of empathy, authenticity and acceptance:
– Empathy, where you feel heard and understood;
– Authenticity, where I am not playing at being “the expert”, but am real and genuine;
– Acceptance, where you are never judged, diagnosed or pigeon-holed.

Reaching out for help is a daunting first step. To make it a little easier, I offer an introductory 30-minute session at no charge or obligation, so we can learn about each other and how we might be able to work together.
